About
November 25, 2009I guess I should start with the name – why Naked Eye Photography? I LOVE watching people, plain and simple, so it’s no surprise that I love photography so much. I can sometimes sit on a bench at the mall or on a busy city street and just watch people pass by, wondering what their story is. As a kid, all I had was a camera made of Lego, so all my pictures were made with my vivid imagination and my naked eye. To this day, I still see a picture with my naked eye before I press down on the shutter.
This curiosity about people’s stories really is the inspiration behind my creativity. I want to tell that story, your story, through pictures, so that you can share it with the people that mean the most to you.
I consider myself a freestyle photographer, combining photojournalism, documentary, and technical elements in my images. I’m not afraid to take chances and try new techniques as a result capturing your story in a one of a kind collection of amazing images.
A little bit about me:
Let’s start with something easy: I am married to a super cool chick and have four amazing kids. Oh yeah, and a little white dog too. That wasn’t so tough, let’s keep going.
I love watching movies and taking long walks . . . wait a minute, just a little cheese please! I do watch a lot of movies, though my favorite would have to be . . . . hmm . . . any of the original Pink Panther flicks with Peter Sellers. What does that tell you about my sense of humour?
I’m a big softy when it comes to my kids. I raise them old school but overindulge them at the same time.
I’m obsessed with gadgets. I always want the newest electronic thing. The biggest challenge with that is trying to convince my wife that we NEED it as opposed to me just wanting it!
Speaking of obsessions, I might as well come clean (no pun inteneded). It’s bound to get out anyhow. I’m a clean freak. Yep, one of those guys you hear about but never thought really existed. That just means I have great attention to detail, right?
Mmmm Coffee – 4 to 5 cups a day . . . bzzzz! I’m wired and ready to go all the time.
I love the heat. Summer rocks and winter is just too long if you ask me. That begs the question – why do I live in Sherwood Park? It’s a great place to live and raise a family but come on – 9 months of cold weather a year? Brrrr.
The solution to the winter blues? My wife and I try to get away during spring break every year. No kids, just us for 10 days. A honeymoon once a year – now that’s what I’m talking about!
Yep, I’ll admit it – I’m secure enough with my masculinity – I’m a bawl baby. I’ll cry at Hallmark commercials, so forget about it at weddings! I still get a tear in my eye at every wedding – it’s awesome!
I’ll wrap this up with my all time favorite thing to do: Sunday night family dinner. Every Sunday our entire family, about 20 people give or take a few, come to our house for supper and it’s awesome. Family is the most important thing to me and I love mine to pieces.
Thanks for stopping by,
Owen
